After a viral review puts his restaurant’s legacy on the line, Grant Reilly is forced to contend with Iris Adams, the ambitious new sous chef at North & Vine.
* Late summer in August, Grant spends another lonely night at North & Vine after his staff has gone home.
* After some negative reviews, reservations are slowing, and the restaurant has lost some of the spark it once had.
* In an effort to turn things around, his business partner brings in Iris Adams to breathe new life into the menu.
* On her first day, Iris arrives for family meal, soaked from a summer rainstorm.
* Grant pulls her aside into the walk-in to set expectations, but Iris surprises him. Trying to regain control, Grant reasserts the hierarchy in his kitchen.
* This, combined with a complex tasting menu, throws Iris off her game. Grant steps in and talks her through fixing her sauce.
* Over the following weeks, Iris finds her footing, and the two begin to fall into a rhythm working together.
* One night, while experimenting with a new pasta dish, they kiss. Grant pulls away – they can’t. She’s his sous chef.
* Later, alone, Grant walks along the river and lets himself imagine what it would be like to give in. His thoughts are interrupted by a text.
